5 Tips to Prepare Your Lawn for Winter
With winter quickly approaching, we've put together a list of five tips and tricks on how to prepare your commercial garden and lawn for the tough weather ahead.
Many companies located in harsh climates such as Denmark are presented with the challenge of designing a garden and lawn that can withstand the cold, drab and snowy weather.
We've put together a list of the 5 most important tips and tricks so that your lawn will look lush and vibrant come Spring.
1. Spread compost with seed and fertilizer on lawn edges
The most effected areas of the tough winter climate are the lawn edges. By spreading compost, you can protect areas that are most harmed by snow removal.
2. Plant branches, seasonal greens and berries
Not only does this combination add a festive holiday look to your garden, but it is strong enough to make it through the season while demanding little to no maintenance.
3. Get rid of sand and salt as soon as you can
By cleaning up sand and salt from designated parking areas, you'll steer clear of burning plants and creating unfavorable soil conditions.
4. Create accessible snow load areas
In case of snow, be sure to allow plow operators to pile snow away from delicate plants that could easily be damaged.
5. Consider planting cool-season annuals
Cool season annuals, such as pansies and forsythia branches can add color to your garden.
